Transgender Workplace Diversity Network

I have heard that that publicly funded Individual health insurance might not cover things like gender change procedures. In fact, I have heard recommendations that if you are considering something like that now, you may want to secure some Temporary insurance before the change goes into affect. Can anyone confirm this?
