Yes, your name is familiar. As someone who was laid off and received a lump sum severance (maximizing taxes) at the same time I was having (non-deductible) SRS, I should have your picture on my wall.
I also thought that LGBT advocacy would be good to go into, but I was afraid of starving to death on that kind of income. What I found instead was a technical job with a health care advocacy organization (cpca.org). It allowed me to continue doing things I know well, although with a much needed shift into more people-oriented activities, while starting to gain experience in advocacy.
But seriously, thanks for your service in the Coast Guard. Your nation will show its gratitude one day - as it did to the Talahassee Airmen. I hope it doesn't take as long though.

If this is too personal don't answer but has there been any outcome on the IRS case? Many, many of us are hanging on by our splintered fingernails.
