Life is Sweet

I'm a happy and independent woman living in San Francisco, CA. I work as a counselor in a mental health clinic. Grad school (MSW or MFT) is looming in my future, soon. I love my job, the city I live in and the people in my extended family.

There was a time when I was a grumpy middle-aged stockbroker. I hated it even though it paid well and I was good at it. There's just not much satisfaction in making money for people that already have lots of money

A lengthy illness gave me a new perspective and I reassessed my direction in life. I learned to live in the moment and go after the things I really wanted. Three years ago I made my transition from male to female. My job is I help mentally ill offenders get jobs, manage their illness and learn to live happier more productive lives. I'm very happy with my choice even though I'll never make the money I did in financial services :)

They represented companies such as Robert Half International, Charles Schwab & Co., The American Red Cross and Oracle. The participants were very interested in what I had to say. I talked about my transition at work and how the management team supported me and made the change easy for me and my co-workers. I probably should have thanke… Continue
