TLC runs pretty lean! We have 5.5 staff right now, and I spend most of my time hustling to get grants, sponsors and individual donors to help us sustain our work (esp in light of the economic downturn). We're getting about 1000 calls for help a year, and that doesn't include other organizations and businesses asking for help to change laws and policies covering transgender people. If you ever have any funding leads, please let me know! We're also looking for resources to help increase access to transgender-inclusive employment programs in cities throughout CA. So far, we've been able to get about $1 million of public funds for such programs (the money doesn't come to us, but is earmarked for employment service providers). Just another way to help our community members get into the jobs we all deserve!
Thanks Gabrielle! We occasionally need to connect with folks in your area to help with advocacy efforts. Do you know who your state and federal representatives are?

Thanks Gabrielle for the information. I will pass it along to interested participants. I am happy to hear that you have a safe workplace.
I would love to learn more.
